Meet Naushabah Khan: Your MP in Gillingham and Rainham. Fighting for change and championing our local area. Dedicated to building a brighter future for all.

When Naushabah’s family moved to the UK in the 1970’s they put down roots in Gillingham. Since then, her family have been embedded in this community, it is the place she was born and raised, and the place she calls home.

Through the encouragement of her family, who always valued hard work, education and ambition, and the support of a Labour government, she became the first person in her family to go to university.

After which she followed a career in business, and most recently worked for a national charity tackling homelessness. Passionate about ensuring future opportunities for young people, she was the Director of an academy trust overseeing six local schools and was a Governor of her former school, Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School. Naushabah also served as trustee for the national women’s charity, The Fawcett Society, and is a vocal champion of gender equality and women’s rights.

Naushabah has a strong track record of working to improve the local area. A Gillingham South councillor from 2015-2024, she has shown her unwavering passion and commitment to fight for change by representing the place she loves and is the driving force behind the Love Gillingham initiative. On July 4 2024, she became MP for Gillingham and Rainham, the first Labour candidate to be elected locally in nearly 20 years, and the first woman to represent the area.
