Today, I attended an important conversation alongside fellow MPs on the economic challenges facing the Occupied Palestinian Territory as a result of incentivised expansionism from the Israeli Government.
We discussed how settlement industries are promoted through government grants, cheap land leases, wage subsidies, cash grants and loan programmes, ultimately making it highly lucrative for companies to conduct business in occupied land.
This Government is committed to recognising the State of Palestine, and should therefore consider banning trade from illegal Israeli settlements.
