It was a pleasure to meet with Home Office Minister Alex Norris MP.
Tackling the decades-long decline of Gillingham Town Centre is one of my highest priorities. A central issue has been a lack of communication between national government and the local authority.
I was encouraged by the Minister’s reassurance that Home Office departments will engage more closely with Medway Council and that he will personally ensure the reconvening of the Multi Agency Forum.
This will allow issues on housing, crime and community cohesion to be identified and addressed proactively, ensuring government is fully sighted at all times and not only during moments of crisis
