Tougher rules considered to curb HMO numbers following ‘rapid increase’

I’m pleased to see Medway Council taking action on the rapid rise of HMOs locally. The proposed additional and selective licensing schemes, first explored when I was a councillor in 2023, are a vital step to improve housing standards and tackle overcrowding. Next, we need an Article 4 Direction to truly get a handle on HMO numbers across Medway.
