It was great to speak on BBC Radio 5 Live this morning, discussing the government’s support for the steel industry. A thriving steel industry is critical to a vibrant and secure economy, which is why we’ve committed up to £2.5 billion to help rebuild the sector over the next 5 years. Under the previous Conservative government, the UK went from the 17th largest steel producer in the world to the 26th, with the economic output of UK steel halving under their watch.
