It was great to visit the Historic Dockyard Chatham and talk to Chief Executive Richard Morsley about one of Medway’s key cultural assets.
We learned about HMS CAVALIER, which was built solely by women (in only 9 months) in 1944. This vessel was designated as a National Destroyer Memorial in commemoration of the 11,000 lives lost and 142 Royal Navy destroyers lost during WW2.
I look forward to more discussions about how we can connect this historical dockyard with the wider community.
